Little Rabbet LLC is a collaboration of Elizabeth Gombert and Jay Kineke. We met at Bennington College, where we both studied Fine Art and History. After graduating, we separately found the trades to be the most rewarding job prospects out there. We blend our aesthetic knowledge, respect for the history of objects, and combined sixteen years of experience, to create spaces that are beautiful and functional according to a client’s specific needs. We want people to enjoy their homes without having to move or start completely from scratch. We don’t want to upsell you anything you don’t need, or to create more waste than is necessary. Working on old homes can be humbling, but the end result is always gratifying. We love seeing the finished project almost as much as clients do, and we look forward to sharing that joy with you.

  • The scale and type of projects we work on varies widely. We specialize in custom cabinetry and woodwork, but take on projects as small as one day repairs, to extensive design-build remodels. We focus on interior remodeling and have a range of skills from design and project-management, to all steps of light construction: from demo to finish painting and everything in-between. Reach out on the contact tab to see if we're the right fit for your next project!

  • A rabbet is a type of wood-working joint, essentially a "step" in the wood used in picture frames. Our first experience working together professionally was in a picture framing shop in 2014.

  • There are a lot of reasons why we both wear masks inside public spaces and inside your home while we work and meet with you. The main reason is our health; being self employed we have no paid sick days. Masks keep us healthy in many ways, protecting us both from respiratory viruses and from workplace hazards like sawdust.
